THE HIDDEN VALLEY

It takes: 3-4hours
Walking back and forth along the same path, rather, “txenda”; like us use to call these paths can only be done on foot.

This canyon, carved and steep over thousands of years by an extraordinary Ezkurra tributary of river, laden with countless fountains, streams and races whose waters only see the animals that inhabit this exceptional site. The high degree of conservation and the constant flow of its waters by a multitude of waterfalls, with a little help we discover, make this place a place for relaxation and conversation of Nature.

Its fresh waters and lush vegetation create special conditions for hot summer days. Winter days and rainfall make a very difficult access to these places

The mythology is present in all these places and the most striking characters of our rich culture, such as lamias or “lamiak” (sirens River), which place them in a cave produced by the race; where with a little luck and the right time you can see them combing their long hair in the shade of a natural rainbow.

In another of the latest episodes of our history and lifestyles of these border valleys occurred at the end of the civil war, smuggling and the return of many people escape to France (maquis); in the shelter of these mountains and hidden valleys.
