Approximate duration: a part by car and the rest in a circular route walking ( 4 hours).
This route will take us two or three centuries back in time, to places where the developments and lifestyles of our previous neighbors led them to the creation of a kind of metropolis.
It would be formed of ironworks, with its furnaces and industrial framework. At this time was responsible for producing cannons and bullets, because the events experienced there, were lived during the carlist war.
The very rudimentary mines where iron was mined, the hermitage, the charcoals where produce the charcoal needed by the ovens and other spaces, like the place of “Pilotasoro” ( pelota court). It was the recreation place for the metropoli’s neighbors ( foundry workers, charcoal workers, shepherd…).
These amazing ruins, by their location at the junction of two rivers, and the great work that the nature has done in these mountains, hide them and take us ( with a bit of imagination) to any other treasure of any other civilization.
The route follows the footsteps of José Antonio Muñagorri, creator of “Peace and Fueros”, (exceptional character of the 1st carlist war), until we reach “Pilotasoro”. There they have encountered with the “txapelgorris” (the liberals), where he was shot in front of his wife and his very short aged son.
We follow the “txenda” until a spectacular natural viewpoint, towards valleys where the no existing human presence gives to this place a wealth of high landscape value.
We will return following the water steps, and channels or the “ferruginosas” sources, whose red colour has led to a lot of interpretations and legends.
